caddy 2001 no glow light and wont start

hi everyone i have a problem with my caddy. I had a flat battery and i tried to jump start it but then there was no glow plug light and it would not fire. any clues would be very grateful, cheers

I know that when I remove the glow plug relay from my fuse box the orange warming light does not light up maybe its worth changing the relay i dont think they cost much.

i have a similar prolem with my 01 sdi caddy except sometimes the glow light doesnt come on, the engine will turn but not start. this happens every few days and sometimes wont start for days. vag program wont show any faults in the system. has anybody else had similar problems. any help figurin out wats gone wrong wud help a lot.

i just replaced my 109 relay and all problems seem to be solved. the relay only cost €25. hope you get yours sorted.

well I hadn't had time to have a look for a while and I went out one evening to have a look. thought i would turn the key on the off chance and guess what, started first time. any ideas on this

caddytrauma -- if your engine is an SDI try replacing the number 109 relay in the fuse board under the steering column area. if its TDI im not sure if they use a different code but it controls the engine control/ecu. mine was behaving similarly it wouldnt start for five days then just started one morning. have no more problems now though.
