launch control?

when I picked up my car, as below, one of the sales guys told me it had a launch control, switch off traction control, stick it in sport, left foot on brake, right foot planted on accelerator, engine will hold at about 2000 rpm, let the brake go and away she'll fly. Not tried it yet, but was he pulling my chain or not?

No, he's not. If you have a DSG gearbox then launch control is in the handbook.

The thought of inflicting this kind of punishment on a car I paid for with my own money makes my teeth itch. Great fun if you have a company car, though!

Remember that the variable, long life servicing interval depends on how hard you drive the car, so a couple of launch control sprints might bring the next service bill a lot closer. Wouldn't surprise me if it's only there to help the dealer make money on servicing.

Thanks Teflon, had a good look thru the handbook, but can't find anything re the launch control. Mind you, you need a degree to understand all of it, there are so many supplements and appendices!!! Is the sequence that i've described above correct and good to try, or is anything else required?

oh woe! tried it tonight after watching the above link, also the one that is done with cards. In that one he finishes with "if you cant rev it over 1200 rpm, you haven't got it......but it can be flashed on by the dealer" well mine doesn't rev over 1200 Anyone have any ideas, other than taking it to the dealer and see if they'll install it?, don't want to do anything that will invalidate any warranty though
