    Hi all,

While I'm playing about with my stereo I thought it might be an idea to sort out the phone situation, what with the impending new fines.

Is there an Audi OEM bluetooth unit that plugs in to the Concert or am I left with the 3rd party units ? Are there any 3rd party units that integrate with the DIS (Eg, incoming call)

Have been looking at the HB300 as there is an Audi wiring harness and I've got a W800i.

    Cheers,

    Richie.

I have Pst and would also like to know if anybody could recommend good (relatively cheap) bluetooth kit. I have Sony K800i phone. Think my preference would be for speaker in car as opposed to headset.

Nearly all the recent VW and Audi OEM radio units have a dedicated phone mute and input for the speaker output from a car kit.

A simple bluetooth carkit can therefore be connected and will be able to use the cars speaker for audio. If you don't want to buy the specific Sony bluetooth kit, a basic Parrot or THB car kit would be my recommendation as they are reliable and work with many different types of phone, so that if you change phones you will only need to get a different cradle.

If you need the kit supplying/fitting I can point you in the right direction based on a postcode for your area.

What Froggy is proposing is just what I have in mind. I just what to clarify one thing: can you connect the cut speaker wires directly into the proper telephone inputs on the back of the head unit, or do you need something like a speaker to line-level adaptor?

Simply connect the speaker output from the car kit directly to the input on the headunit. That's what it is designed to accept.

Thanks for the reply Froggy. I will let you know how it goes once gather up what I need. I am ordering the "Audi speaker and Mute only input lead" (part 06-119B) from SIO communications to make the connections a bit more secure and orderly.

It appears that SIO Communications is not operating currently. I ended up making my own wiring harness from parts from my local Audi dealer. I was able to tie the Parrot CK 3000 harness right into the back of the Bose head unit very easily. The system works great. The head unit reads "phone" when the cell phone is active and all the sound comes through the front speakers of the factory installed sound system. I am definitely glad I did not go with professional installers. They all had different ideas of wiring the bluetooth in, and they all wanted to cut and splice into the speaker wires. I was able to do it better without violating any of sound systems original wiring.
