Just sold my 2004 Symphony II for £100 and bought a new 2007 Concert for £70 (off eBay) - mainly for the MP3 playing ability. Had to buy an adapter cable (£45) to convert the old ISO system to the new RNS-E connecter for the new stereo. Arrived in the post today, plugged it in...nothing at all! Any idea what the problem could be? Live and earth appear to be in the right place - could I have blown a fuse? Is the most likely culprit the adapter cable? Why is there no instruction in the book about entering the code (which I have)?

Each radio should have a pinout description sticker on it, check that your new adapter is keeping all the connections the same. Its not unheard of for these adapters to be wired wrongly.

Code's arent mentioned in the book as they arent usually needed as the radio will recognise its original donor car. Its simple to enter the code though using the radio buttons.

Thanks, I will upload a few photos... I checked the 12V and earth and they are correct so I would have thought there would be some kind of signs of life??

If you def have the 12v and earth connected and the fuses are intact then you should indeed see some sign of lifee from it!

Yes, although car audio electronic have got more complex the basic 12v and earth thing remains. I definitely have 12v and earth upto the unit but no sign of life ignition on or off when I press the power button. I bought it off eBAy from a guy with a lot of 100% feedback - says it was removed before the vehical was sold so new... The fuse is fine - never seen a totally non reactive stereo - does it require other connections to activate it? My system is Bose but that just effects the output?

Below is the setup I have - straight forwards? Any way of testing the unit itself?

Definitely have 12v and earth checked several times with a multimeter - and they do go to the right place on the new head unit. Is there another connection which could prevent it powering up - on some cars there is an additional ignition supply but I can't see it here?
