With modern cars a turbo timer isn't needed.

Correct, there is no nee for a turbo timer as fully syntetic oil does not "coke" like semi or mineral oils. It still is a good thing to let it tick over for a couple of minutes before turnig it off after a hard trashing.

still, as has already been said, i'd never thrash it, get the turbo boiling and then just turn off the car.

or am i too kind to my car?

i also let it just spool for a minute or so after any drive lasting more than 15-20 minutes or so..

On a short gentle trip, just around 20-30 seconds...

    Cheers

    Rick
