    Hey all,

I recently bought a MK5 1.9 SE tdi, I wanted to get the GT TDI but the insurance was ridiculous (Over 3000 quid!!).

I like the car overall but the fact that it does not have rear electric windows bugs me.

So has anyone fitted theres with rear electric windows? How much did it cost?

I have seen universal electric windows on ebay:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-FIT-...d=p3286.c0.m14

    Has anyone used them:

    PS first post!!!

I guess they would work ok, would look a bit gash with those switches in the car though wouldnt it?

Fitting might take a while as you'd have to run all the power wires into the doors from the car - cost depends if you can do it or you need to pay someone (depends on the hourly labour rate)

I wont risk doing it myself Il end up ruining all of the electronics or something else!

I am willing to spend about 200 GBP on the electrics.

I am planning on buying original vw switches so I am not worried about that

Well if your planning on fitting original switches (and also having them in the front so that the driver can also control the windows) I reckon you will be pretty lucky to get the job done for £200. Good luck though!

Its worth a try the parts should total around 70 pounds and then the rest of the budget is on labour.

I will most likely have to go slightley over budget

Id leave it and buy some coilovers instead.

You wont ever use them in the back anyway because you will be driving

Save your money and put it towards your next car. Got electric windows on the back in mine. Hardly ever use them.

The only reason I want them is because when people sit in the back (which is rarley) then they wind the windows down but dont wind them back up.

I think I will leave it for now because it is always raining and consider changing them in the summer which is a very long way...

    Thanks for the help guys
