Hey guys, i'm new on this forum as you can probably tell, and i've just picked up my second golf tdi.

Its a V reg TDI. Bit confused though, the dealer says the car is a GT TDI, but insurance websites say it is an SE TDI. Is there a way to make sure?

    cool

ok so now i know its GT TDi, what would you lot do as insurance is involved? Accept the model they specify when you type in the reg number, or alter it so you are actually insured for the GT?

I was thinking of altering it just incase i do have to make a claim, and in case they void my claim if they find out i've got the wrong model insured.

Hi, you DO have to sort it with the insurance. I have just had to do the same with my bora sport PD 150, as the insurance's computer (linked to the DVLA) had it down as an "ST". Being as the most powerful ST was 130 bhp, and also it's group 8 as opposed to group 13 for the Sport, I changed it at the insurance office, and notified the DVLA too. Basically, you are not insured now, you have paid your premium for nothing! The insurance companies will do anything to try to get out of paying, don't make it easy for them! All the best!

as above, this has been discussed before on this forum, i think it may have been you apophis that raised the issue. as long as you have informed your insurance of the correct spec and model type, you are covered, get them to confirm they have accepted the new spec/model and to give you a renewed quotation based on this. basically, worst case scenario is say you were to have a bump and the car is written off, whether your fault or not, every insurance company will wriggle out of it as your car is, for all intents and purposes, a different car to that which you have insured. never leave anything to question with these insurance companies, as said, they will wriggle out of anything they can

also, on a seperate note, im sure the steering wheel on an se is the standard plastic wheel whereas the GT tdis are fitted with the leather one.
