    Right,

this rubbing/ humming noise is still annoying me!

I rolled down a slight incline and put the handbrake on one click, the noise did alter but did not stop, the car was able to roll relatively freely so im not sure that the handbrake is too tight. Coincidently it takes about 2 clicks to apply the hand brake fully, 3 clicks at a push but dont want to stretch the cable.

ITs difficult to tell if its side specific, i just know its rear wheels/ brakes, again the inner surface of the drivers rear brake disc seems to have alot of carbon deposit even after driving?

You have pad binding probably due to a faulty caliper. You won’t stretch the cables before you damage the caliper.

    Thanks Crasher

Is this something that can be remedied by taking the wheel off and "un seizing" it or is it a new calliper job?

Noticed something else today, when i floor it the steering wheel vibrates like mad! dont know if this is torque steer (Its been remapped) or just poor wheel balancing, seems fine when not applying power though.

    Kind regards

The caliper will have to come off and be inspected, maybe sized pads or a faulty caliper both of which we see a lot.

The banging front wheel is something all powerful Golf 4 platform (and Golf 5) cars do, it is transaxle tramp caused by the soft lower gearbox mount. Fitting the Powerflex insert reduces the problem but it does transmit a little more NVH into the car.

    Ok, thanks.

Its strange that the vibrating wheel has only been noticeable recently under power - perhaps it is one of the existing bushes that has worn.

Hmmm, i will get the rear wheel off this week and have a look at the rear calliper, I would bring it to your good self however nottingham is a bit far fro stafford for this job i think.

    Kind regards

I am on holiday at the moment so you would need to ring the office and speak to John or Roy to get an exact price on 01159785740.

Have you got a link for the junior kit of where i can purchase them? likewise to the person who posted the thread i want to lower my bora without really killing the ride, ok i exspect the ride to be firmer and a bit more bouncier i can handle that but dont want it to be so bad that the car feels like it is going to rattle to peices! thanks!

www.candrenterprises.co.uk but we don't have them on our web pages yet and not on our fleaBay shop either as we currently prefer to work out what you need rather than you order the wrong kit. Call us and we will do it person to person, so to speak!
