    Hey everyone,

Looking for a boot liner to protect the lovely cream carpet on my 2002 2.7T A6 quattro Avant. I've found some generic aftermarket rubber mat people who sell cheap £15 ones on eBay, which would be fine. But just wondered if there was an official Audi option available?

    Anyone got recommendations?

    Hey Peter,

Thanks for that - I had seen those, to be fair, (typing 'audi boot liner' into google is sort of the first step). The question I had was whether there was an official Audi item available. I hadn't been able to find any evidence of one online.

    Yes.

Phone your local Audi dealer and ask for parts dept. They'll need to order one in.

I believe they still make two types, a cheapo, foamy sort of thing at nearly fifty quid and a more expensive rigid jobbie.

I bought the cheapo and it did keep the back of the car clean, but given my time again I'd just cut a piece of black carpet to fit. It certainly ain't worth what it cost.

I have an aftermarket one called a bootsuit, which is made from recycled polypropelene. It was OK to start with, but it split along the joints where it folds. The company doesn't seem to be trading any more, though they are still for sale on the bay. I don't think I'd recommend it, and if I cant fix mine up with a soldering iron I'll probably get something else.

Audi certainly do make one and I have one of the rigid liners in the rear of my Avant, they certainly stop your carpet getting ruined and you can just put your wet or muddy things in it and if it gets too dirty just hose it out, very lightweigh liner but very strong, think they are about £80.

I justgot one off ebay- the seller said it was the 'dogs sphericals'--but when it turned up- its was just a large floppy rubber thing and didnt fit properly- and smelled like a condom. Cost about £37 delivered .
I emailed them and said it was not good enough .
They refunded my payment-and told me to throw it in the bin !!.
So--now im looking for a proper one. Again.

Now then. I bought one off eBay on Monday night, from a seller called 'eternalcar', and it arrived today (pdq!), from Germany, and I stuck it in tonight. It's pretty good - made of solid rubberised stuff, with a centre panel made of non-slip material. Cost £22 plus a tenner p&p. It fits pretty well, with a bit of a gap at the back, but I think this is to allow access to the luggage securing loops.

All in all, I'm pretty pleased. It looks good, will do a decent job I think, and didn't cost the earth.
