Thule roof bars and footpack

Hello, wondered if anyone could offer any advice, i have a passat 2001 saloon, i have been given some thule 368 roof bars and fittings. They fit ok, however i'm not 100% sure they are the correct ones for the car, i called into my local Halfords earlier and the guy advised me they were fine, however he's not the one driving to Edinburgh on Sunday ! i have a Halfords roof box whic hfits fine, but i'm not sure about the roof bars / foot pack.

regardless of right or wrong type,and off thread,but take them straight off
after use.
the previous owner of my reflex silver bora must have left his on and they
have left some awful marks,
