Hi All, I'm about to order a 2.0T s-line B8 A4. I was wondering what sorts of deals people have been able to get on A4's. I am hoping for the dealer to get close to a broker price, is this realistic? I am also hoping to get them to give me the WhatCar recommened Part-Ex price for my existing A4, should I get real? Any help appreciated. p.s. Hi as I'm new. Al

Exter audi gave me broker prices on a 2.7 S-Line (10% discount on car and options) & parker's guide trade in value for my 2005 A3 2.0TDI sport DSG - took my car on day of deal to be able to give me full book value for it but gave me a free B8 A4 2.0 TDi SE to drive until mine arrives
(i had to arrange insurance for the loan car - just amended my A3 policy wich cost me £16 admin fee)

took quite a long haggling process which ended at 6pm as i think we all wanted to go home ! But it was all friendly and we all walked away smiling, i started negotiations by showing them a print out of a quote from uknewcars.com of my fully specced up car (they had started by saying "it's a new model in high demand sir, we don't give discounts.... )

may have helped that i bought my A3 through them - and had all the servicing and repairs through them - my ongoing custom for servicing and potential future cars was a big part of the negotiating

I was dealing with Plymouth Audi (part of the same group asthe Exeter dealership I think) and the maximum they would go to was 7% discount despite me being a previous customer and good dealing relationship with the Sales Manager?

In addition I was offered £10,000 as a trade in value on a '07 Focus ST3 which all along said was not acceptable for the deal to happen. We hit a brick wall so the deal didn't go with them. Things just dragged on too much and they just kept coming back with the same deal despite me saying it wasn't acceptable for me. Things were dragging on and they said if it slipped to an October delivery, 'd be looking at another £500 off the p/ex price!

Dealt via a broker I'd been recommended and he secured the car with a slightly higher discount (9% approx) from an Audi dealer in the midlands, but more importantly got me £1,000 more on the p/ex price.

I dealt with a guy called Gareth Williams at Bespoke Automotive Consulting who I have found to be really helpful. I guess I'd rather reserve full judgement until I'm actually sitting in my new Avant, but so far so good.

Being honest though, from my research, places like DrivetheDeal still offer the best outright discounts, but Gareth offer a better package imho (taking into account my p/ex). If I was confident of selling my Focus privately I would have probably just gone to DTD.

Having said that, I've had no interest at all in my gas guzzler so maybe my plan of attack will prove to be the best for my circumstances!

It's the part-ex that driving me to the dealers, not sure how I could manage the potential time without a car if I sold mine before the new car arrived or couldn't sell mine by the time the new one was available. Otherwise I'd buy from a broker. £11k fro your ST3 isn't far of recommended PX price. Al
