Just a bit of info for anyone whos got what seems to be quite a common problem of the oil light continuously flashing even though everything is actually fine.

My 1998 T4 1.9TD seems to have had all the electrics in the engine bay broken by previous owners when I got it. Both the oil pressure switches werent working, I replaced them hoping that it would fix the oil light. There was a slight difference when the engine started (light stayed on for a second or two), but it kept flashing. I had a poke around for other things but had no joy and its been flashing for the last few months.

Today I was changing the oil and noticed that the two thin wires that plug into the alternator (red and blue) had completely broken inside the cable cover that comes down from the main wiring loom. Ive just soldered them back up and now my oil light does what it shoud do, comes on until the engine is started then goes out!
