I have invested my sweety money in to a talex light speed camera detector.
It has very good reviews and its cheap but i didn't get the usb lead to down load updates or subscribe to updates and i was wondering if any of you use this magic box to evade the dark forces and if so what say you to this update business and is it worth spending my mars bar money on as Mrs a8 doesn't like me spending my/her money
O i have fell out with wales as they scared me for life with 3 points before the magic talex

Also on my return visit to this wales place i dropped my phone in bala lake arggggggggggggggggggggh

O the hair gel freak in the phone shop pi s s ed his pants when i explained my recent activities in his place of birth.I shall soon be traveling to France where no doubt i will suffer some fatal food poisoning by those gay budgie bird eaters.Turna a t at

A return visit to Bala? Surprised you didn't get eaten alive out there. I spent a bizzare night there a month ago. 4am lock-in in the Goat Hotel. Nothing like a bit of local welcome, isn't it!

i can't comment directly, as I don't have this unit, but I've used snoopers before on long distance journeys (absolute cack as it turns out), the only thing that concerns me about GPS camera detectors is that they're only good for the fixed ones, ideally, you need something that can detect temporary cameras too, i've yet to find one i consider reasonably priced though

i just use tomtom6 on my nokia n95, and get "free" speed camera updates from the web. i would imagine that all the gps camera databases get their info from the same sources, so basing it on how good my database is, then it IS pretty good, however i havent updated in a long time.

if you do lots of travelling then maybe it would be worth it. if not, then perhaps just buy the usb cable and research other ways of getting the updated databases to the unit without having to subscribe.

From experience (and I do have a lot), when I had a snooper many years ago (one that would detect laser and radar), it didn't stop me getting points. It was generally the case of shutting the door after the horse has bolted and gone over the mountain. Granted that these and the newer GPS models work very well for fixed speed camera's, but with the profusion of mobile laser vans (and now horse-boxes!) it is a fact that if your laser detector goes off and you are speeding, it is pointless hitting the brakes as the laser read-out is instantaneous and you'll be done anyway. All fixed camera's here in Wales are clearly signposted anyhow. The only other way to avoid a booking is by using a laser jammer which is illegal and not to be recommended. If you successfully block the laser's signal and avoid detection, it is police protocol now to record the numberplate of the car which has jammed the signal. If this happens a couple of times like it did to my mate then you will get a visit from the police and they will impound your car to get a good look at the jammer in your grill. Then you could get done for perverting the course of justice and anything else they can make up. My mate was extremely lucky and walked away with a warning.
However, the gps modules do serve a great purpose in keeping you aware of the legal speed limit etc. I on many occasions have been unintentionally over the speed limit, and a reminder of the limit on the dash is a great idea.
    Happy driving.
