I have been trying to swap the rear pads and discs, and have now tracked down the source of my frustration to siezed slider pins.

The upper slider pin on both sides is totally seized in the caliper bracket.

As both sides are exactly the same, I am guessing this is a common problem.
Is there a well known fix for this? or failing that is there somewhere well known that I can buy replacement caliper brackets and pins?

had the same problem with one of mine, little rubber boot split allowing water in and it rusted solid, managed to free it with a big hammer and plenty of wd-40
then removed rust with wire wool added plenty of grease and a new boot
    works fine now!

OK, wire wool not now an option - one slider pin sheared off. one bracket can only be removed from the car with a grinder.

I guess the local Audi dealer is now going to fleece me for a few hundred for a couple of brackets, pins and countless 'use once' bolts

Check eBay. I know it''s a cliche, but there are cheap parts to be had.
