hey guys i have been having problems with my esp for afew months, and i found out that it was the yaw rate sensor. but the other day it keap making my abs activate, so i had to bite the bullet and have a new fitted at a price of £385 for the sensor alone, how ever my garage said they could not get the fault to clear from the car, that was on thursday, so have been driving it since then with no problems, until last night when the esp light came back on, does anyone have any idears what could be making this happen, how can i clear the fault? it is on a 2001 v6 4motion,
    thanks
    Dan

Not 100% but I thought the sensor needs to be calibrated which could explain why the fault does not clear.

Yeah, I had a similar sensor replaced on a TT and it did need to be coded to the car.

Hey guys, I had the yaw rate sensor recoded by my local vw dealership and the fault codes cleared. My traction control light stayed off for about 20 miles then started the car again and it came back on. Any idea what could be causing this to happen? Thanks.

    Hi V6dub,

you will prob have to get the latitudinal and longitudinal sensors calibrated aswell. This can be done by VAGCOM.
Also the speed sensors might be worth checking to see if they are reading right.
I had a fault with my A3 for ages, cured it the other day. I had new tyres fitted on the back and left the old ones on the front, caused my esp to go mental. Swapped the wheels front to rear and now it's fun round roundabouts again

    Hope this helps

ok i swaped the wheels back to front, cause i had new now only a coupe of monthes ago then the problems did start but i never put the two together, so you think that i might need the sensors reset, can you reset the speed sensors, wound they show up as a fault if they where broken?

    Hi V6dub,

The speed sensors can't be reset you can just check whether they are reading right. Has the fault gone now that you have swapped the wheels around??

If the wires were broken it would bring up a fault in the ABS control unit.
You can however reset the lat and long sensors, but it is worth checking them in measured value blocks to see what they are reading 1st, if they are within tolerance then there is no point resetting them.

    Hope this helps

well since i changed the wheels around the esp light has not come back on, until i started up to come back from work today. i had the sensors reset on thursday by vw but that was before i changed the wheels, but i think they only did the yaw rate sensor as that was the one that was changed and that was the one that was picked up as a fault. do you think i should have the one reset as well.

Hi m8, get the other two sensors checked to see if they are within tolerance, if they aren't then try to reset them. See if that cures them
    Regards
