    Hi Guys,

Does anyone have experience of upgrading the A3 TDI via ECU chips? Mine is an A3 2.0 TDI Sport (140 BHP). I have seen people on ebay selling chips that will boost up to 170BHP.
Has anyone had experience of doing this? The advetisement boasts great performance increases and better fuel economy. Can these both be true together?
    Thanks.

Yes they can be true but be very careful. Personally I prefer plug in tuning boxes (not cheap silly resistors) and the best of these can cost quite a lot more than a re-map, over £500. The reason I don’t like remaps is they can cause terrible problems when tying to diagnose running problems but I offer APR remaps as well as Steinbauer tuning boxes.

I had a Superhips upgrade on my petrol 1.8T Golf from 150 to 180BHP three years ago (i know you asking about Diesel upgrade, they also do those).

The car had an obvious increase in performace, fuel consumption was about the same and driveabilty was significantly better; less turbo lag etc. It was carried out at approx 40,000miles and was running Ok when I sold the cars at 70,000miles.

I would recommend a re-map as along with the tuning box its the safest way to get more performance from your car.

For £285 i can re-map your car to 180 bhp with an additional 95nm of torque, this would also bring a slight improvement in fuel consumption.
