chattering on lock

i have a 1996 a4 tdi,while turning right i have a chattering noise and you can sometimes feel it but only on the left side,it mostly happens under power while going around roundabouts and right bends,it happens from just after steering has turned to near full lock,it does not do it while using full lock,it is not the cv joint (brand new one fitted recently) noise was there before and after the fitment of the cv joint (old cv joint had worn out),is there any issues on the a4 that can cause this?
