    Hi All

I'm on the verge of purchasing a set of 18" Chicago replicas, but I've been put off slightly as getting told they come with no warranty as polished surface corrodes really quickly, (been told this by a few suppliers) now I am one to look after my car, surely if I was to coat them with lots of polish (Meguiars Gold Class) and not use any harsh alloy wheel cleaner they should be okay, normally my car is washed at least once a week by hand,

Does anyone have polished alloys (original or replicas) and have they had any problems with corrosion? I've always liked the Chicago style and thought it would really nice on the black Passat.

    Anyone?

I use two or three coats of Poorboys Wheel Sealant over the top of one coat of Jeffs Werkstat Prime Strong. The proof of how well this works as a protective barrier is the ease with which brake dust and other contaminants wash off just using a good car specific wash product and a microfibre mitt. A specialised wheel cleaner is quite unnecessary once the wheels have been initially cleaned and then treated. I just top up the Poorboys from time to time and clean right down and start again once a year.

Bought a 2.00ltr 55 plated Passat in April. The deal stated that the wheels laquer had peeled off, VW supplied a new set on warranty. These are okay so far
