    Default Boot hard to open – 18-01-2007,08:13 PM
    The boot on my Passat (Saloon) is getting harder and harder to open. I assume it is something related to the struts? Is there an easy way to lubricate these, Oil, WD40 ,grease?

    Any replies appreciated

    the hings seize up spray them with wd40 or somthing like that and just keep working the boot open close ect

    Hi Mav2006,
    As well as lubricating the struts and other moving parts, try cleaning the struts. They can very easily become clogged with all sorts of muck and the internal rubber seals can become damaged which will also stiffen the the boot.
