Whilst browsing through the forum and waiting for my new Audi to arrive, I thought I read that somebody was saying the car won't move unless the driver is fully belted up.

Is this true? I've got two gates to open on the way out and I don't fancy belting up each time, a warning beep I can live with.

Can anybody confirm the belt warning behaviour for driver and passenenger?

No its not true. The parking brake wont disengage automatically unless you ahve your belt on. otherwise you've got to press the brake pedal and flick the switch to release it

    Cheers chap.

You can't just flick the switch to release?

Seems a bit of a retrograde step as you've got to flick between brake and accelerator and quickly bring to the biting point to avoid rolling back.

I assume if you're belted up you just press the accelerator and go.

Does it engage automatically or do you have to brake with foot-brake and then toggle it on?

    To clarify.

You don't have to press the brake pedal at all.

If you don't have your seat belt fastened you just have to keep the brake switch pressed down while you move off (1 second or so). Once moving the brake will stay off until you switch it on again.

I do this every morning in the drive to deal with the gates as you say.

How amazing, it does work, simply hold down the hand break switch for a few seconds and at the same time pull away, and your off, no seat belt and no foot on the break pedal. NICE one.

    nlb.
