    Whilst coming up the m6 yesterday doing about eighty my car suddenly lost power and my speed dropped to sixty it didnt make any difference going through the gears it was just flat.Pulled into services for 5mins and then set off again,it was fine for about a mile then it lost power again going uphill and im being overtaken by corsas which is bad enough in itself,has anybody got any ideas before I contact a garage?

    Try cleaning the hot side of the turbo

    Try searching for MAF on this forum. There is loads and loads to read as it seems a common problem and symptoms sounds the same. Good luck.

    PS. My A4 TDI has had the same problem for a year and I haven't got round to fixing it. Run around town I don't notice it at all and went on a 600 mile round trip and it never went flat as I kept the revs below 3000.

    Its now in the garage on the vagcom,while overtaking on the motorway im having to knock the engine off and bump start it,so decided to let them deal with it.I will keep you posted on the outcome,cheers

    I had the same thing happen to mine... turned out to be a spilt in a hose to an Air Flow Meter. I had the whole thing replaced though and ever since then it's been fine.
