I first read about the problems with these in honest john's letters column in the daily telegraph. He doesn't seem to rate VW's in general. It seems the majority of diesel cars produced in the last 8 years have DMF's but the problems with their failure have been assosciated with VW / Audi, or am I wrong? Is the failure of them due to a particular style of driving ie heavy use of the clutch and heat generation? There are numerous threads on this forum of cars having problems with the DMF but how many owners of diesels with a decent mileage on them and the DMF has been trouble free? I seem to have read so much about it i'm almost waiting for the dreaded clutch judder to start on my 53 reg Golf.

    MK4 GTI AZJ engine 2.0

I've started to experience clutch slip between gears when changing at highish revs say 4000 RPM, and then the clutch catches, is it likely that I will need a new DMF as well as clutch kit or are the plates worn and need replacing??

    Any replies would be appreciated.

I know that other makes have them but nearly all the articles I have read of failure seem to relate to VW Audi some with only low mileage. What I'm trying to find out is are there owners of diesel cars made in the last 8 years on this forum who have experienced no problem with the DMF and what mileage have they covered?

You're a funny guy but what contribution does your post make. Gloating just angers me, you might as well say "Your car is broken but mine works!!"

You are obviously someone who takes glee in other peoples sorrow.

There is a name for peole like that!

I'd like to post it but it would only get deleted.

Excuse my ignorance Primo1000 but how do you know it's got a DMF. Your car is 8 years old, wasn't this when they first started to fit them? A mate of mine has got a W Reg 1.9 TDI Galaxy that's done 125k with no problems, will that have one?

Whaat engine does your car have Ve Tdi or PD Tdi ? If its a PD then it has a DMF if its a Ve tdi it wont have a DMF and maybe thats why the clutch lasted so long.
