I can't knock the Falkens, I've just had 4 fitted to my Grand Vitara (not high performance I know but good to keep the dog and fishing gear out of the GT!). The tyres are made by Dunlop in Japan so you know they're going to be of decent quality and made to a standard with decent rubber.

I had FK452's fitted to my Bora 150 TDI Sport, It used to hug the road really well, and done really well when i took her down the 1/4 mile at crail, 15.4 seconds, I do miss that car (PSI tuning box 185bhp, plenty torque)

    anyway very good tyres..

always like the Falken 452's, good quality tyre at a good price.

Hankook ventus are better and last longer, with me anyway!!!

Khumo do some really good tyres but i also have a friend who swears by marangoni zeta linears!!!!.

think i'll wait and have a go in his before i pass judgement on them tho!!

What is the rim protection like on this tyre?

Heard it isn't that great. Not curbed my alloys so far and want to keep it that way so any help the tyre can give the better.

The Dunlop sport maxx currently on there seems quite good compared to avon tyres I have had on another car in the past

Most 'premium' tyre makers feature some kind of kerbing protection. On Dunlop it is called MFS - Maximum Flange Shield - the wonders of translation from German!
Kerbing rings will only work so much, low profile tyres and high kerbs can make them pretty useless. I remeber when I was being nice and moving my car so an old guy could get out easier from his space, I caight the wheel on the kerb and put a long graze in my brand new black Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s I had on my Focus. All he said was "That's the problem with those low profile tyres" I wanted to show him what a real problem was but I bit my tongue. Miserable git never even said thank you.
Moral of the story: never help anyone.....
