    Hi guys,

Just bought my dream car - finally got my 2nd Audi, the 1st being an A3 1.6s. Now I've finally got an Audi S3 01 plate 2002 registered with 78k on the clock.

I posted in the new members forum and A8 helpfully advised me to change the cambelt and water pump 'done' and change the Halidex oil and filter.

Could someone please elaborate on his advice and possibly advise me as to why these parts would need changing and if there is anything I should check or look out for?

Also if anyone could possibly give me a rough guide for how much these items/parts/labour would cost at a local Audi ( I live in Enfield N.London) or would it be wiser to go to an Independant Audi garage.

    Thanks Guys!

    Advice/Assistance Appreciated!

    Richard

Hi Mate and welcome to the best car you will ever own!

As A8 says (he is a guru), get the cambelt, waterpump and tensioner done all at the same time...

As for the Haldex coupling....well I dont wish do teach to suck eggs etc etc, but this is the component that makes the S3 'quattro'. It relies on hydraulic action to transfer drive to the rear wheels when a difference in speed between front and rear wheels exists......

Anyway, changing the haldex oil and filter from Audi, I was quoted 120 quid, parts, labour and vat inclusive...not a difficult job if you have the tools.
Worth doing though if there is no record of it being done.

    Hope this helps mate

    Thanks for the advice.

Took the car out for 1st yesterday. Drove very well. Appears to be in excellent condition. I've got it booked in at Audi for a health check on Monday.

    Richard.
