hi all, i was wondering if anybody can help me clear something up, at the weekend my engine in a 1997 a4 1.9 tdi seized on me for what seems to be obvious reason, anyhow i think i have found another engine but this is where the problem starts. i need to find the correct engine code of the one thats seized as in ADN, AFN etc. i was told there is a label on the timing belt cover but thats unreadable. even the pictures in my haynes manual show the AFN engine but this has a different turbo unit. surely there must be a simple way of checking as there seems loads of them.

    thanks for taking a look

    ian
