I have an 2007 Audi a4 Quattro 2.0 and would like to remove the entire front ashtry so that I can fit in a satellite radio in there and still be able to close the cover.

Note: the ashtry includes a cigarette lighter, which I do not need and would need to disable.

Any help or suggestions on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you got the convertible A4 as I have been in Saloon and Avant B7s and the cigarette lighter was always next to the hand brake unless this is some smokers package that Audi do as an option

The ashtray is relatively easy to remove in my car- if you post a pic of your interior I may be able to help.

I have a sedan and I live in the United States, if that makes a difference. I will post the pictures shortly.

Ah OK. I take it you want to put the Sat Nav unit in place of the radio?

Is it going to be the Audi Sat Nav, if it is it should be a straight swap as you have the double DIN (Large) head unit installed and you won't need to take out the ashtray.

To remove the head unit you will need the 4 Audi removal keys

    Part Number: 8E0 051 530

If you are still looking to remove the ashtray then I will post pics up tomorrow evening showing how it is done.

I notice you have auto transmission, my pics will show how it is done on manual transmission but I'm guessing the process is the same.

I have a removable satellite unit that I want to place in the ash tray space with the wires etc. This would be a good spot to keep the unit out of site so I do not have to take it with me everytime I go somewhere.

The other issue that I can see is the cigarette lighter would need to be deactivated so it does not cause a problem when disconnected. Any thoughts on what to do with that?

I understand now- you want to create a storage area by removing the ashtray completely. I'm not sure if this will be possible as the silver slide up lid is attached to the ashtray unit which is removed in one go meaning you will be left with a hole

You will see in the photos I will post up later what I mean.

At a minimum it would be nice to see if I could feed the wires up through that area so I could hide the wires in that compartment.

    Any suggestions?
