The warning beep and light come on if I go round a corner at all quickly. All I have to do is lift and replace the dipstick, and all is well until the next time. (Of course the oil-level is correct). Any ideas what could cause this, please?

Could be a faulty oil pressure switch or maybe the oil level sensor look at the sump, if your car has it you will see a block connector should be 2 pin hope this helps

if simply removing the dipstick cures it,then you have to be talking blocked breather system, although i doubt if that could cause enough crankcase pressure to drop the oil level!!!!!!

But how would cornering affect the crankcase pressure, Stewy? And also, I can leave the car overrnight, having switched off with the warning showing, and the message is still there the next morning. I have to just lift and replace the dipstck, and all is well - till the next fast corner!

cornering wouldn't affect the crankcase pressure, but fast cornering with oil level below normal would cause the oil to go to one side of the sump and further reducing level at the other side.

Thanks for the response, Stewy, but I did point out at the beginning that the oil-level is correct.

it is when you check it,but if the crankcase pressure is high(you are relieving it by removing dipstick) it may be forcing oil level down while running(unlikely, i know).
if removing dipstick cures fault, then can only think blocked breather system,or, perhaps the dip stick is physically coming into contact internally with the sensor?

perhaps you could ease the dipstick out of the tube slightly and just let it rest on tube
rather than fully home.try running like that to see if problem persists?
