    Hi,
General help needed, I recently had a new plastic underguard fitted under my car (the plastic shield that goes under car/engine) as it come off in an accident.

I have recently noticed that when sitting in the car, the car sounds a little noisier, like a vibration, bit like an early blow in an exhaust sound.

When getting out the car, and listening, it just a standard diesel noise, so its only in the car can hear it badly? The car drives fine with no lack of power.

I have checked the plastic shield as thought that maybe loose, but its not, its fully secure, but do wonder if that is vibrating slightly?

Does anyone have any idea? I was worried the exhaust may have blown at top end where it connects to cat, but there is no sign off this, or any noise outside the car?

Just want some reassurance that all is OK, as not got sefvice until March (thankfully) and dont want to go to a garage just for this unless anyone thinks its serious)

    Thanks all
    Steve

if the noise is at about 1600rpm while driving, ive got the same noise, i've got no undertray on at the mo and drove today with no engine cover and the noise is still there, im not worried to be honest, went through the service with no notes etc, think its just a vibration thats common, i cant work it out anyway?

How much was the part, the TDI one is very expensive due to the sound deadening. The W8 petrol one is much cheaper than all the others, at £30 and the TDi one is £135.

I've got a rattle at the same rev limit and I'm buggered if I can find where it's coming from!. Shield under engine and engine cover are secure and fine.
Sounds pretty loud inside the car.

I had a very annoying rattle through the engine compartment on my 1.9 TDI, after I got the car back from service a while back, It took me ages to work out where it was coming from, turns out it was the air cleaner cover was vibrating off the intake ducting as it wasn’t sat correctly, the higher the revs the louder the noise inside the car, when I got out to check it, obviously no foot on the accelerator, so no noise, hope this helps

Inspect the battery cover/cowl area for marks where it could be vibrating against the underside of the bonnet. Mine was doing this. I fitted small pieces of felt tape to the areas, It's fine now.
