Hi - I have a low pressure warning light and buzzer coming on even though the oil pressure is fine and the oil pressure sender unit is functioning. Having consulted the wiring diagram (in my Haynes manual) I suspect that the oil pressure monitor switch unit is at fault. Can anyone tell me where this is located please?

    Thanks.

there are 2 pressure switches on a gti one on the head and one on the oil filter housing have you checked both? further to that i had a long drawn out battle once to get a GX tacho cluster to work properly in an 1100, the oil light just wouldn't go off and i think this monitoring unit you speak of might be in the cluster. i tried and never succeeded in fooling it to run on one switch so if your cluster is not from a gti you could be in for a bit of a marathon.

Sounds like a break in the wiring somewhere along the line would be a more likley cause in a 25 year old car, since the 'monitoring' in the binnacle is simply measuring the resistance between the switch and ground.
    Just my 2p
