I have a VW Passat Year 2000, 81 KW 1.9 TDI Car. The central locking, Windows and power mirrors are not working from the Drivers side door control panel. This happened after I removed some fuse to check the fuses are working. After that all the electronics are not working from the driver’s side door panel. When I lock from the driver’s side it will lock only that door. And the power windows are not working from driver’s side so as the mirrors.

However the central locking is working from front passenger door lock and from the rear boot lid. This locks the whole system including the driver’s side door lock. And the all the other power windows are also working but not the drivers side.

However when I hold the key in open / lock position from front passenger door lock it does open / close all the windows including the drivers side windows.

I tired checking the car with a VAG COM system, but I didn’t find any problem.

Can any one please help me with this problem? Thanking you all in advance.

    Suresh.

    Suresh hi
Try pulling up the front passenger footwell carpet. The wiring leading to the convenience control module has a bunch of soldered joints in various of the wires. find the faulty ones, rejoin them and your back in business. If there is a load of water in the footwell there will be two blocked drains--like rubber bung things, one under the battery, one near the servo. Poke them and let the water out.
    Best of luck!

    Hi benc,

Thank you very much for ur reply and info. I tired removing the plastic cover in da footwell. and found alot of wiring. but everything was fine. And there were no water there. But some time back water got filled in to the bay which the battery is located. however then it didn't have any prob.

Now the drivers side door is not working from any of the central locking system and it can be locked or unlocked only by the key from the drivers side. Can you please let me know if it is the wires or anything to do with da computer. Can you also let me know where exactly the wires should be or do i have to remove the whole footwell catpert.

    Thanking you again

    Regards
    Suresh.

    Suresh hi

When I did this I pulled off the plastic securing the carpet at the edge of the footwell, also the passenger seat. I could the push the carpet towards the centre of the car. In the centre of the footwell is the convenience control CPU in its plastic housing.

A thick bunch of wires leads to the connector at the terminal end of the CPU. These wires are taped together, maybe 20 or more of them. Cut the tape and splay the wires out. As you do this you will probably find 5 or 6 of the wires are joined together--or should be!

When you undo the tape at these joints one or more of them will seperate, the solder connection will be rotten. I secured all mine with screw type connectors and sprayed everything with WD40 before putting all back together.

Have fun--and while you are sweating, just think, a garage would be charging you £50 an hour for this!

    Thanks
