I have an 54 plate A4, 1.9 TDI, Rep mobile. 128,000 on the clock so its been around a bit.
The wiper motor and linkage has recently given up with a very expensive dealer only replacement stinging my pocket.

Has any one had a similar experience? I feel that 3.5 yrs and 128K miles is very soon for these parts to be dying in need of repalcement.

I was hoping to challenge Audi UK and was hoping if anyone had Average Time to Failure details for these parts??

    Cheers Amigos.

    Matt

    Hey Matt,

Forgive my ignorance, but surely nothing is a "dealer only replacement" ??

My one also went after about 4 years (100K on the clock).

The motor was fine though, I would go to a trusted indi rather than a dealer, how do you know the motor has gone ?

    cheers Guys,

ElPaulio, i tried to track one down via a few GSF parts suppliers, but was told it was not stocked! Audi themselves didint have one in the UK. Which obviously added to the "pain" of getting it replaced.

Kurtas, i had a couple of Indy mechanics have a look at it and the diagnosis was the motor and linkage, prior to taking it into the dealer.

Its fixed now after nearly a week at the dealer! on the very plus side i did have a A4 AVANT S-LINE to play with for a few days. pretty expensive courtesy car though!

My linkage went at just shy of 160K (4 yrs); £63 or so and York Audi had a few in stock. I think the motors go if the linkage seizes and the can't cope with the strain. I replaced the linkage myself with guidance from the Haynes manual; took less than 1 hr.

My linkage has been making horrible noiuses for abotu 6 motnhs now, my car is 4 years old and 92k miles, I have tried greasing it all up with spray on white grease which only helped breifly.

I wonderif its the same linkage used on Golf 4`s ? they ahve the same problem it seems.

sometimes I wish I had just stuck with my B5 2.8Q, it was a much better built car, and at 9 years old with 130k on the clock it had none of the problems ive had with my B6 3.0QS, in fact it had no problems at all.
