    hi all
new to the forum and have an A4 2.4 estate, car is just bought and has one or two little niggles, one of which is a rubbing noise when on a r/h lock, even a small turn makes it occur but doesn;t do it going backwards, have checked brakes and for anything catching, it's like a hssh hssh sound if you get my drift, could this be a bearing or cv problem? i am experienced with cars but this nis not your normal bearing or cv noise.

    Cheers

PS noise apears from l/h front wheel

Just for future reference, the noise turned out to be the tyre! Also located the oil leak, coming from l/h cam cover.

Anyone done a cam belt change on one of these? can it be done easily

What was it on the tye causing the noise? I'm getting a similar rubbing hssh hssh noise, at regular intervals, linear to the speed i am travelling (ie at 5mph it goes hshh................hshh, at 10mph it goes hssh.... hssh.... hssh)

I've looked everything over and cannot see how it could be the tyre causing the noise?"$ Maybe ill try the spare wheel... i thought it was a bearing on the go.

Yes, sounds exactly the same as mine, the tyre was badly worn on the edges, and that side track rod end has a bit of play, can't say what was causing the noise apart from it was definately the tyre, i got someone else to drive and ran around like a you know what listening and tried the spare and noise was gone.
