Council becomes first to ditch speed cameras - Telegraph

My favourite people, the Witless and Swindle having their funding taken away? OH no!!

What will I do for a hobby now?

    PHP Code:
Sergeant Nick Blencoweacting manager of the camera partnership
said there would be "implications" if Swindon withdrew its funding
Implications? Yes you will have to get a proper job!

If they spent as much time catching tailgaters and people who cut you up / pull out in front of you as they do catching people doing 34 in a 30 MPH zone the roads would be in a far better state.

Good to see they're making sentencing a bit more harsher:

I don't like speed cameras but at least you know where they are. We could end up back to the old days of a white hatted bobbie lay in wait with a hand held speed gun just when/where you least expect it!!

but they do that anyway, even with all the cameras around...

...thats how i got caught. then they took great delight in rubbing my nose in the fact i had just slowed down for two stationary cameras before them catching me.

It's fairly simple, if you don't break the law they won't upset you

You wouldn't carry a gun then complain if you got caught with it?
You may think I'm being helpful yet sarcastic, this is only because I feel I need to help you to help yourself in the future

Moron of the week was being interviewed on the news service that Radio 1 try to pass of as journalism this evening: They asked a "young mum" (after all, if you want to get an over the top safety nazi response, you can't argue back with...) about them getting rid of the speed cameras, her response:
"It's shocking, we have load of joy riders on the estates here, it's not going to stop that is it?"
No, it won't you stupid bint! They're speed cameras! HTF will that make the slightest difference? What annoys me the most is that Radio 1 decided to broadcast this as the best voxpop they could get.

I was doing 60 in a 60mph limit and they dragged me through the courts for 15 months. They told lies and then covered it up.

I would complain if I was arrested and charged for carrying a gun, when I wasn't carrying one, wouldn't you?

IF speed cameras were being used to improve road safety, I would be for them, but they are not. They are just out there collecting money.

I was targetted at 728metres; about half a mile away. He claims that he looked past the camera, through a small hole in the back of the van, and made an opinion that I was speeding when driving directly at him from more than half a mile.

I am refering to the LTI20.20 dodgyscope, not the Gatsos.

I am all for Gatsos outside of schools, and in other danger spots.

i agree. i thought they were called safety cameras, designed to help road safety at/around accident black spots. i have heard of brand new roads being opened with cameras already on them. this must mean that roads are being designed with black spots already on them

Yes, the Speed Camera Partnerships changed their names to Safety Camera Partnerships to make it sound like they were helping us and not fleecing us, but then that was deemed still to be too persecuting, so now they are called Casualty Reduction Partnerships.
