Yet another problem that I could do with some advice on please.

I have recently noticed two window related problems. On the drivers side, the 'one shot' function of the open and close mechanism does not work. It will still go up and down but I have to keep the button pressed. The passenger side is fine.

At the same time I now notice that I am unable to open and close the windows with the open and close functions of the remote.

Does anyone know if these problems are likely to be related and if so, what might it be? I have checked all the fuses and they appear fine.

As a by-the-by, where can I get hold of the odd few bits of door trim clips? Over the years, both Audi and I seem to have broken some of them. They obviously dont realise that I know and I would like to replace them myself at a much nicer price!

    Thanks in advance

The window one is simple to solve, it just needs a reset. What you do is fully open the window using the door mounted control.

    1. Then fully close it, holding the switch until the window is fully closed.
    2. Release the window switch.
    3. Then operate the window switch to the closed position again and hold it until you hear a light thunk sound in the door (it only takes about a second or so.)
    4. release the window switch again and the "one shot" function should be now be reset.

This is the same for all windows with this feature and once reset, the remote open and close function on the ignition key will work again as well.

I think it sometimes needs resetting if the window is a bit stiff or meets some resistance when closing - I think that it supposes that something is in the way of the closing window and stops the auto-close function.

The reset procedure is covered in the user handbook somewhere, I remember reading it a while back.

    Hi ESL

You are a star! I am 90% there and feel a little stupid for not trying your advice earlier and reading the user manuel. It is such a basic solution!! I did have to disconnect the battery for another problem (I will write about this for everyone to be amazed at!) and it says very clearly in the manual that doing so will affect the windows.

I say that I am 90% there because all (both) windows now open and close with the plip. The drivers window will now go up with the one shot but guess what?! It won't go down by itself. I suppose this means that the switch is knackered?!

I prey that it is not because my last problem caused £360 of trouble only a few weeks back.

    Kind regards

Yes, it does sound like the switch, if it opens OK and the remote function works.

    Hi ESL

That was my thought too. I contacted Taunton Audi this morning and they are now ordering me the switch (actually two - driver/passenger), together with a few misc. door trim parts that always seem to get broken during these repair operations! Cost for the parts should be around £20 and so you and the Forum will have saved me plenty of cash - many thanks.

I will update everyone on how easy or otherwise it is to change the switch as soon as I get it. I think that I should try to get my hands on a DVD based user manual but the last time I tried I couldn't get it to work (something to do with the original software security no doubt!). Any suggestions on the best source for this would be appreciated.

    Thanks once again.
