hi there, i'm new and need some expert help! here goes; skoda octavia 1.8t aum on an '01 y plate. when accelerating hard the turbo kicks in then dies then kicks in again then dies and so on. i have just bought the car and managed to knock £400 off the asking price because of this problem. i bought it off a trader who was selling it for his neighbour- a little old lady who just pootled round in it hence only 55k. don't pick the car up till thursday so haven't took it for a code read yet. anyone got any ideas as to what it could be? any advice would be extremely appreciated as i'm worrying i'll be faced with a big bill for a new turbo! cheers

It sounds like a problem with the N75, a code read is probably the best way to go.

Should be 058 906 283 F and they cost just under £60. Get the codes read first though.

could be a sooted up turbo, causing it to stick, though I would read the codes before pulling it apart

just to let everyone know, and possibly help anyone with similar symptons, i changed the n75 valve today ( crasher was spot on with the part number!) and .......result!, turbo now spins as it should with a nice smooth power delivery so cheers to everyone for their advice
though i have to admit i changed the valve on the back of advice given without taking the car for a code read, a gamble that luckily paid off, but anyone with a similar problem i would recommend taking it for a code read first! cheers once again
