Just joined the forum as I rcently got a 3 year old Polo (1.4 16v).

Has a developed an intermittent fault -- blows hot air when temp dial is on coldest setting . AC is Off. turning temp dial does not change anything. Restarting the car sometimes clears the fault. Turning A/C on does not cool either. It has been re-gased recently. Sometimes with the A/C ON, turning the fan speed to full speed quickly start to cool the car -- but only sometimes.

Is this a know problem with Polo's ?
    Any suggestions ?

Welcome, sorry you never got any suggestions. It might be that this is something that has not occurred on a Polo before on this forum.

You may also try posting in the Polo section
    One German, Two Italian.
    It's a Mercedes Benzzzz though

welcome to the forum, as has been suggested by malc, try posting the thread IN the polo forum, not just searching and you may receive more replies, this area of the forum tends to get a little neglected as people tend to specialise in a particular vehicle, hence they normally stay in the relevant forum area.

i would suggest though, you may not receive a reply straight away and encouragment is always given to become an active member, not simply posting when you have a problem.....

consequently i have read on this forum that a valve becomes blocked, which stops the air flow from funcitoning properly, you might want to search in passat and golf posts as well....

good luck in addressing the fault
