    Hi,
Just about to fit K&N induction kit.
Does anyone know of anything else that will increase performance on my golf.

    Mk4 1999 1.6s AKL

    Cheers

I suggest you sell your car and get another golf with a 1.8T engine. More power to start with and better tunning potential. To your 1.6 engine there is no much to do, apart from the said K&N filter, a performance cam and perhaps a remap....thats it really, unless you wanna port the head and do more mods that will take you to the same/less horsepower than a 1.8T has anyway and will cost an arm and an leg !

For NA engines you really have to look to tradtional mod methods to get any good gains e.g polish/porting of head, wilder cams, enlarging capacity, big bore exhaust etc.

This is expensive as it's very labour intensive.

Maps on NA engine will give typically only 10% increase...nothing really...although it may give better driveability.

AAT do turbo kits for 14.16v and 1.6 IIRC...I think these produce approx 160bhp for the 1.4...can'te remember what the 1.6 gives.

Bang for buck you can't beat a standard turbo engine with a remap.
