What do you do? I currently have a grippy mat thing from Tesco for the estate, but thinking about putting something a bit more substantial in there.

VW do theirs for about £33, but you can pick up others for about £25 on fleabay.

    Any thoughts or alternative solutions?

I got one for my Sport 170 saloon from a German company advertising on eBay. I went for the more expensive version, which has a large central non-slip section. Cost including fast delivery from Germany was (from memory) just under £30. I'm very pleased. It fits perfectly, and the non-slip section is very effective. I see that the same company also does a version for the estate.

Got a VW one when I got the car (estate).
Its made from a semi-rigid foam type of stuff, but `walks` backwards and end up curled against the back door. Its also not durable, heavy sharpish objects (like the edge of a chest of drawers) would probably pierce it.

I used to have rigid plastic things when I had Peugeots, which stayed put, retained spilt liquids, and were virtually indestructable. If these are the E-bay option I would go for it.

I should have said in my earler post that mine is made from a very tough semi-rigid black plastic. There is an upstand which is over an inch high all around the edge, so any minor spills are contained.

I found the link on ebay too, glad that someone else recommends it.

Is the anti-slip thing good, work well?

    crox

I was sceptical of the anti-slip, but it works REALLY well.

I'm glad I went for this option, because without the anti-slip I think items would slide around on the shiny plastic surface.
