I have an a4 i.9 tdi afn eng code....

just after xmas the car started juddering on idle as i drove away and went thru the gears it got progressivly worse i code read it and it came back as a fuel quantity adjuster....i located a second hand pump and fitted it as a diesel specialist said this was the problem as the adjuster is inside the pump fair enough i located a 2nd hand pump off ebay and fitted it perfect.... for about 20 mins until it got warm now i have exactly the same code back again and some more as well

    motion sensor injector-stroke sensor needle
    engine speed sensor
    slide posistion sensor
i know what your thinking dodgy 2nd hand pump but i saw the breaker running

Replace/clean the 3rd injector conector as it' verry important for the corect timing and will lead to said symptoms. Also erase the fault codes and see witch one stays on. Check the timing with a vag com in dynamic and static modes !

    Hi,

Is the DI pump fitted correctly? There were VW recommended modifications to the standard fitting of the DI pump on that engine code because of various running faults.

Set the engine to TDC on No.1 cylinder, fit locking pin into pump and loosen the 3 bolts. Then you need to loosen the bolts for the DI pump and using a small rule rotate it in the direction of rotation 4mm (No more), then re-check TDC alignment and tighten all the bolts.

Make sure that all mechanical components are fitted correctly, then move on to checking the wiring.

Sorry I forgot to mention; that particular engine code suffers from worn camshaft and hydraulic bucket tappets...
