My 52 plate A6 Avant seems to be suffering what I now (after checking out this forum) see is the well known problem of flooded passenger footwell & misbehaving Convenience thingy.

My alarm was going off incessantly - I assumed it was a neighbour's car at 3am as my hazards weren't flashing

I duly discovered it was my car & after much effing about managed to disconnect the siren unit which was then stuffed in a box of rags in the garage - though it has shut up now!

I've done some investigation & it seems my plenum overfloweth - cleaning that out will be tomorrow's 1st task & then I'll need to lift the carpet & employ the hairdryer or whatever . . .

NOW here's the problem - I can't open any door other than the driver's (with the key) if I try to open any passenger door by pulling the release handle the button pops up when I operate the handle & then drops back down when I release it . . .

How can I get the front passenger door open so I can get at the trim strip to be able to lift the carpet?

Plenum chamber wasn't awash after all - just a bit manky - culprit seems to have been a ******* seal under the pollen filter tray, have used a generous bead of bathroom silicone so hopefully the cause of the leak is now sorted.

Managed to get the carpet up in the passenger footwell even with the door closed & found around 10 litres of water

Got most of it out with a sponge & bucket - fan heater in there at the moment doing its stuff.

Removed the Convenience Module & apart from some blue muck on some of the connector pins it doesn't look too bad - cleaned it up using isopropyl alcohol & left to dry out.

Checked back along the harness & found some crimp connector jobbies rather than soldered connections - thinking back I did have issues with the alarm a couple of years ago which were fixed at a main dealer & they mentioned something about that. In any event the crimp connections all look OK.

Anyhow, just tried a quick reconnect & the effing doors still won't unlock

It's meant to be going in for an MOT tomorrow - at the moment I'm just hoping that another coupla hours in the airing cupboard for the Convenience Module is gonna sort things out, but some help in getting the doors open is required right now . . .
