Did it not come with instructions...?

Three pin plug sounds to me like it may want to go to MAF or air temp sensor.... but who knows.
Personally I would not fix such a crude 'box' to my car. Most likely it just fakes some signal and fools the ECU into injecting too much fuel.

In other makes' forums it's spoken of as holding a ripped-off remap from someone else's proper remap. By proper remap mean your current ECU settings downloaded, sent for re-write, and uploaded to your car's ECU again (Superchips, etc.) Which is what the OP should get specific for his car and his engine (if TDi after EGR restrictor fitted).

OP doesn't say what car this is unit is for. These are meant to be sold specifically for different makes, marques, engines within a marque

It's for a 2008 TDI Estate as the OP mentioned but if it has a DPF then the 'tune' would be limited as the DPF will restrict exhaust flow. Using a Drake box on the higher settings may even cook the DPF which will get way too hot during regeneration.

Sure way of killing off your engine way sooner than the inherent faults VW kindly build into these cars that will try to kill it anyway!!

OP doesn't say what car the Drake box is for. Says it came without destructions...
Yes, OP did say his car was a 2008 TDI Estate
