    Hey Folks

    First time poster here.

I picked up my 04 plate 1.9TDi 130 Avant last Monday and am loving. One small problem though. When I started it up this morning the computer told me that the right hand brake light is out.

I have had a quick look on tinternet and it appears that replacing the bulb is reasonably straight forward, however, will replacing the bulb reset the warning on the dash or will that require a diagnostic plug in to be reset?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Ian

When you change the bulb the error will also clear. Bulbs are constantly fusing and it would certainly be a costly affair if each time you needed to have the error cleared professionally.

I thought that but the handbook helpfully tells me to take it into the *********** inorder to have a bulb replaced so I thought there must be more to it than just changing the bulb.

    Thanks for the help.

It would....but looks like that is just what's needed on the newer A6

Just swapped a tail and a brake bulb....neither of which cleared the fault...in fact they did not even get power until the fault was cleared....not sure if this is the norm....hope not....but then I do have VCDS to reset them

If you follow this guide you will have no problems replacing your bulb.

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ead.php?t=7485

I changed the brake light bulb on my 03 A4 Avant a while back using the guide, and the error clears when changed.

Just take your time when removing the rear cluster.

Did it at lunch time today. 5 minute fumble in her rear end and she is all happy again. Cost a grand total of £1 for the bulb and the warning light went out.

I still have a warning light on though. Seems to be telling me I am low on fuel. Does anyone know of a £1 fix for that problem. lol
