    i have recently bought a mk3 gl golf with a clifford alarm.but when i press unlcok on the remote,the car sometimes fails to respond(from 1m which is usually fine),and also when it does respond,the car if very slow to open.
    so i have two questions;

    would replacing the batteries in the remote work?and if so,would it be a straight swap for the battery?or would i have to reprogram the remote to the car?

    or could it be due to the car possibly having a low battery which could be possible as it has had SORN for a month or two and may not have be at full working order even though all other functions work ok.

    i realise this could make absolutely no sense at all, and if so,i appolagise,as this was written quite fast.

    First,replace the batteries with duracells(dont be cheap) and before replacing the batteries,open the casing and spray it with a fine mist of wd40 then rubover both sides of the circut board with a fine artist paint brush(its very small and avaidable in poundland and other shops).This will improve signal responce slightly and prevent moisture afecting your remote.As for the slow door unlocking responce,on all four doors unscrew the black boot from car body to door(between hinges with door open)and disconect this socket and check if vacuum hose is still in good tight condition(all four doors).Weak hose allows air to leak and is not always audibale,open your tailgate and on the right side wheel arch behind taillights is the central locking pump.Check the rubber pipe for leaks(very rare but not impossible).I worked in a VW breakers and done this on cars my boss sold.
