And I'd put money on the A6 being easier to avoid an accident in than the Range Rover. My only real near miss (and it was really, really near) I avoided because the Punto I was driving was so predictable in its handling.

I still maintain that if I had been driving most "safer" cars, me and my family would be dead - others in the accident were, and we missed impact by a matter of inches at 70 mph. I'm a big believer that the safety of a car isn't just how it behaves post-accident, but also how well it behaves just generally. The A6 is a safe car in that respect.

A very, very fair point. Have some rep...

It is a fair point. However I'd put money on me being able to out-brake/get out of a situation on a superbike faster than any car. BUT, as my mate found out (we are/were both bikers as well) when you are waiting at a roundabout and someone just ploughs into you, there isn't a lot other than passive safety that can save you. He was on a bike and was lucky to live, it's for that kind of thing really that I get interested in safety.

I have every confidence in the A6 to be safe to drive and able to cope with road situations. Front wheel drive and VAG in general are quite 'safe' in my experience, some moan that isn't 'interesting' but having had a nasty experience with a TVR Tuscan on the way to a track day purely because of a bit of water on the road that nearly ended up with the back row of an artic's axles going over us... :-0

I still enjoy driving and still class myself as an enthusiast, ie I LIKE driving. But I have to admit that as I'll get a-b regardless if in a merangue or a cage, I'd sooner travel with the best cage round me I can afford ;-)

    Greg.

You are a biker and you are talking about safety like this ?

Another thing is Quatrro owners will explain how safe a Quatrro is because of the 4WD grip etc...

Sure I used to love bikes, but there is just too many cars around these days for my liking.

    Almost forgot !

Yeah... that doesn't look like a particularly wise thing to do...

No, it hurt. I did get upgraded by BA to Business Class on the way back though as I was in a neck collar and in agony, I didn’t sleep a wink during an eleven hour flight, thank God they had the in-flight movie arm rest screens.
