    Next problem, I just took my new mk 3 for a spin and it handles like a dream. Unfortubately at 50mph on a corner it felt like it tried to step out twice, like I had jerked the wheel into the corner. I am a competent driver and I wasn't going too fast for the corner by miles. It felt different to a normal grip-loss. There is no obvious noise coming from the rear wheels or tyres, and there's enough air in them. I'm worried about driving it now. Don't want to hand over lots of cash to the VW garage so they can spend three days working out what's wrong!
    Cheers if you can help.

    Sorry I might have missed a previous post that answers this but;

    How old are your rear shocks?

    My 96 GTi had an alarming habbit of wiggling it's **** about.

    Once I replaced the rear units the problem disappeared.

    The car didn't bang or crash and behaved itself pretty well most of the time but at speed it was plain scary :O

    Check the condition of the rear bump stops and the rear axle buses. If the rear axle bushes have failed you will have to take it into a VW garage as they are not an easy DIY job, especially if the car has a brake rear pressure regulator.
