    Hi,

I've just replaced the rear pads on my 1.9TDI Touran, all went fine, I used a rewind tool that I'd bought from GSF for £19, which worked well. However the handbrake comes up a long way now - I thought that it would auto adjust after a few applications - anyone got any ideas?

BTW the front pads still have 6-8mm left on them - the back ones were down to 2mm.

    Cheers Dusty

It may be the brake cables have stretched , have you tried adjusting the handbrake cable ?

    Hi,

The handbrake has gone back to it's normal position now, I guess it took a few miles of driving around to bed in the new pads and reset the handbrake adjusters. BTW I just had the car MOT'd and serviced by VW main dealer, they reported that the rear pads were 70% worn - exactly the same as for the previous service 14k ago! I don't think that they really looked.
