    Hello

I have a 51 plate passat tdi sport with 6 speed manual and just recently I have noticed that very rarely it crunches ever so slightly when gearing down from 4th to 3rd.
Only happend in third gear and only a slight cruch.
When going up the gears no problems, just when i come from 4th to third but even this is very rare.

Can someone shed some light on what to do or what it might be?

    Also
could someone maybe tell me how to change the gearbox fluid as I've read it could be that?
    Just need to know:
How to drain the fluid, insert new fluid and what fluid to use for my gearbox?

How do you hold the gear knob when you change? I find it is easy to press down on the gear knob when changing into third (pressing down like you have to when changing into reverse). I find the change into third is a bit more difficult when I do this.

    Hello Zub

I'm not sure what the benefits are of doing this, can you explain?
I'm assuming you have a crunch too in third?

Also i've noticed if your harsh with the change, meaning if you chnage quite fast then it crunches once maybe in the whole drive but if your nice and easy its fine and no crunch.

I was thinking if I change the fluid that might help it.

I'm not saying it is a benefit, what I am saying is that I find it is easy (easy in a bad way!) to put more downwards pressure on the gear knob when changing into third than with 1st or 5th. Maybe the downwards pressure when changing into third makes it a bit harder to go into gear.

I wouldn't say mine crunched at all, it just seems a little harder to put into third if I put downward pressure on the gear stick. If I pay attention and shift into third with no downwards pressure it changes the same as any other gear.

I see what your saying Zub
    Thanks for the Info
I'll just keep an eye on this as its very very rare it happens.

I was wondering if you or anyone else knew how to change the fluid on the gearbox or even check the level?
