    Hi All,

I want to fit a 12v socket in the boot of my A3. I have purchased the pukka article from VAG (pop-out type) and have a couple of questions, if anyone can please help.

    1. Is the wiring for this socket already in place, or will I have to run a new cable from ther fusebox ? (I know some manufacturers only have one or two wiring looms for all the models in their range, those options not used or fitted have the wiring still in situ but redundant, but not sure about Audi though)

    2. Where is the socket located in the boot when fitted by the factory/ dealer? (I have an Audi workshop manual, but this particular item is not illustrated anywhere)

    3. Is there a cut-out or knockout on the boot trim panel or wherever, or will I have to cut a hole from scratch ?

    Thanks in advance,

I think in this case you might just have to see what happens.Have a poke around the boot area for a recess of coverd up hole,if theres not one then try removing the boot trim and looking for existing wiring. If there is some there then make your new hole according to the location of the wiring,if theres nothing there then you'll just have to make a new hole and run your own wires, wich to be frank is possibly the better option,as you'll have total control over the placing of the socket.

Have now done the job, and very nice it looks too.

In answer to my own questions,

    1. No, there is none that I could find.

    2. I fitted mine on the left side panel, more room behind.

    3. No.

Thanks to those who bothered to reply with help or advice.

If anyone wants details of how it's done, then please pm me.

    Cheers
