Can anyone help? i have a Mk 4 Golf GT-TDi and took it to a back street garage for an oil change, ever since then the car sounds like and old transit van and has performance to match, there is no power below about 2200Rpm. the car also cuts out at about 90mph and goes in to safe mode untill ingition is re-started, i've ran a diagnostics and came with the following codes:

    address 01: Engine
    Controller: 038 906 018 BM
    Component: 1,9l R4 EDC 0000SG 2115
    Coding: 00002
    Shop #: WSC 31414
    2 Faults Found:
17656 - Injection Start Regulation: Control Deviation
    P1248 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

17970 - Quantity Adjuster (N146): Upper Limit Reached
    P1562 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
    Readiness: N/A

Can anyone please help regarding these codes? i have checked on wikipidia but have found no clear answers.

if anyone in the area requires a diagonistics, i would be happy to help.

The fault codes are indicating that your fuel pump could be on its way out, or something is interfering with fuel supply.

Do you have a tuning box fitted?

I would have someone else check the pump.

Also check that the correct oil was used.

You could do with starting a new post on this, this post is four years old. Which engine code does your car have and which year.

Hi all, my wife's 2002 Golf 4 1.9 tdi 130 bhp has recently developed a fault. I took it to our local VW specialist (not dealership) there magic box of tricks came up with the following fault code, the 1st 2 sets of numbers point to a turbo overboost, I can't find anything for the last set though. This is the full code - 17965 P1557 035, it's the 035 bit I can't find info for!

The car is fine until you push it a bit, then the turbo cuts out and you're on limp home mode. Recycling the ignition and startup or as I tend to do is turn off ignition and back on again without stopping clears the problem. I have seen other posts relating to this but nothing to say what the last three numbers mean (035). If anyone can shed light on this I would be very grateful.

    Regards, Paul

Don’t worry about the 035, it is just defining the code as being intermittent. 17965 is nearly always a clogged up turbo. Again as I said above, you would be far better off starting a new thread as more people will see it.
