Im trying to program a new key to my 98' A4, so far my cunning plan is going well, however Iv no idea were to find my SKC code Iv got all the origional AUdi literature with me car, but no luck in there, Iv searched the forum for about an hour and I cant find anything, alothough IM SURE I'v seen a post in the past made by someone who found the code using VAG-COM. Im using a fully registered version of 311, has any body got any ideas how to find it?Ill be rather upset if I cant find it!

    Thanks in advance!

i think some older cars had the skc code on a key tag, and the code was under a scratch off panel.

other than that, you can use vag tacho to read the skc. vagcom can use the code to program new keys, but ONLY if you already know the code.

not even audi staff have access to the code. when they program new keys, the programming machine talks directly to some HQ place via the net. the SKC is never made visible to anyone during the recode process.

vag tacho however, can in most cases iterrogate the code and retrieve it.

its not part of vagcom. it is a standalone program that needs a different lead (just to be really irritating) sorry, i should have said this in my first post.

I think ill just try and butcher an old transponder into the new key, might be a bit easier.I just need a teeny-weeny allen key to open the new key up, why does nothing go as smooth as it should?

Opened it up, swapped the transponder and voila! Its starts the car all I have to do now is match the remote to the car
